Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring 3+ years of Level III/IV NICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Level III/IV NICU setting caring for neonates from 23-24 weeks gestation and up
- 77-bed unit with an average census of 50 patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Block scheduling available for candidates who prefer to work 3 or more shifts in a row
- Rare floating required due to high need for RNs in the NICU, though may float to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN, or to Pediatrics/NBN for newborn care only
- Travelers typically do not admit babies, as the unit has a dedicated Admit Nurse
- Nurses attend high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience or 2 years of Level IV NICU experience required
- Experience with CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency ventilators, oscillators, and standard ventilators required
- Skilled in blood and blood product administration
- Experience with cardioversion and defibrillation required
- Proficiency with cooling/warming blankets for therapeutic hypothermia required
- Experience with feeding tubes, including oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube placement and management required
- Experience with PICC and central line care required
- Proficiency with syringe pumps required
- Neonatal dosage calculation skills required
- Experience with neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation required
- Prior employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level III/IV NICU setting
- Support high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgical cases
- Work alongside a dedicated Admit Nurse who typically handles patient admissions
- Team-based care model with float support to and from Pediatrics/NBN units as needed
- Former Providence permanent employees must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for this travel position
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
