Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring prior travel experience and proficiency in Epic charting.
Details
- 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit specializing in post-operative care"
- Cares for orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
- Also treats Level III trauma patients and accepts Medical-Surgical overflow as census permits
- Unit has capability to monitor up to 8 telemetry patients
- Day shift schedule of 4x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Typical patient ratio is 1:7, occasionally flexing from a budgeted 1:5
- Every other weekend work required
- Floating required within the facility
- Holiday coverage required within the contract dates
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum of two years of recent relevant RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Proficient in Epic charting system required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
- Must pass required EKG/telemetry competency test with 80% or higher, single attempt only
- No history of license or background hits permitted
- No history of fit test issues permitted; facility cannot accommodate PAPR
- Two professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide post-operative nursing care for orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
- Deliver telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Support Level III trauma patients and Medical-Surgical overflow as needed
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Skills in wound care, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management preferred
- Experience with total joint replacement, CVA, and substance withdrawal care preferred
- Completion of 3 hours of pre-start clinical modules required
- Must work two of the three winter holidays if extending assignment through January 2027
- Longer assignment extension through January 9, 2027 available but not required
- Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be considered
- Requested time off must be submitted and will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis
