Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) for a day shift position requiring at least 2 years of experience and current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Details

• Work in the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit within a medical center setting
• Patient population includes adult critical care, emergency department, and pediatric patients
• Cares for patients with ARDS, aspiration, and pneumonia
• Maintains a patient ratio of approximately 1:3
• Day shift schedule with 4x10 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Flexible scheduling of 3-4 days per week
• Requires 2-4 on-call shifts per week from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend work required
• Float within scope to meet facility needs as needed

Requirements

• CRT or RRT certification required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• License required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred in respiratory therapy
• Experience with oxygen therapy, bag and mask, ET tube, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP and CPAP
• Proficient in drawing and interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Skilled in suctioning techniques (ETT, NT, oral/nasal) preferred
• Experience with aerosol setup for mask and trach preferred
• Knowledge of medication administration including Albuterol, Atrovent, and Racemic epinephrine
• Basic EKG and chest physiotherapy skills required
• Experience with apnea monitors preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy services across adult critical care, emergency, and pediatric patient populations
• Perform pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and troubleshooting of ventilator high pressure alarms
• Administer nebulizer treatments via hand held and trach collar methods
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
