Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology Chemo Certified position requiring a CO or compact license and prior chemotherapy administration experience.

Details

• Work in the Oncology Chemo Certified unit within a Regional Medical Center setting
• Care for inpatient and outpatient oncology patients across a wide range of cancer diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• 13-week assignment length
• Meditech charting system experience preferred
• Paragon and Practice Partner experience preferred

Requirements

• Active CO state or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certifications preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, and central line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy via IV push, oral, and continuous infusion methods
• Ability to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, and sepsis
• Two supervisor references completed within the past 18 months required for consideration
• Copies of all required certifications and licensure required for consideration
• Interview availability required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive chemotherapy administration and oncology nursing care
• Manage care for patients with a wide variety of cancers including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and more
• Coordinate psychosocial care including patient/family education, hospice care, and advance directive discussions
• Perform symptom management for side effects such as nausea, neuropathy, and altered mental status
• Handle body fluids and manage cytotoxic spills following proper safety protocols
• Provide wound care, chest tube management, and ostomy care as needed
• Maximum of 10 total RTO days permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Full calendar weeks of RTO are not accepted and all time off must be finalized prior to consideration
