Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring a compact or LA RN license and Epic experience.

Details

  • Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and gynecologic/surgical oncology cases
  • Care provided in a 7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients
  • Performs or assists with bedside central venous catheter (CVC) placements and bone marrow biopsies
  • Utilizes Alaris IV pumps (Epic-integrated), barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Floating required
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or Louisiana) required in hand at time of submittal
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
  • ONS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology specialty experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, and central line/PICC line management preferred
  • Experience with blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management preferred
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to oncology, hematology, and BMT patients including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
  • May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, which may require remaining onsite until relief arrives
  • Orientation is held five days a week
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required to obtain clearance to start contract, though not required for initial submission
  • Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be considered
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full year separation from the health system before returning as a travel candidate
