Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring a compact or LA RN license and Epic experience.
Details
- Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital environment
- Patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and gynecologic/surgical oncology cases
- Care provided in a 7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients
- Performs or assists with bedside central venous catheter (CVC) placements and bone marrow biopsies
- Utilizes Alaris IV pumps (Epic-integrated), barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Floating required
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or Louisiana) required in hand at time of submittal
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
- ONS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of oncology specialty experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, and central line/PICC line management preferred
- Experience with blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management preferred
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to oncology, hematology, and BMT patients including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, which may require remaining onsite until relief arrives
- Orientation is held five days a week
- Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required to obtain clearance to start contract, though not required for initial submission
- Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be considered
- RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full year separation from the health system before returning as a travel candidate
