Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring a compact or LA RN license and Epic experience.
Details
- Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and gynecologic and surgical oncology cases
- Care provided in a 7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients
- Performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
- Uses Alaris IV pumps (Epic-integrated), barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
- Weekend coverage required every other weekend
- Floating required
- No call-in requirement
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand upon submittal
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- ONS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, and central line care
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
- Experience with blood product administration and PICC line management preferred
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)
- Must live 65+ miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to oncology and hematology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- Perform bedside procedures such as central line blood draws and bone marrow biopsy assistance
- Orientation held five days a week
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer complications
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full year separation from the facility before returning as a travel employee
- Two manager or supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (charge RN references not accepted)
