Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Endoscopy position requiring 3 years of GI/intraprocedural experience and a NM or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Main Endoscopy department of a Level III trauma hospital
- GI specialty covering pre, intra, and post procedure care
- Adult patient population with mid to high acuity
- 7-bed unit with 1:2 patient ratios
- Common procedures include colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, and bronchoscopy
- Uses Olympus endoscopy equipment
- Uses Cerner EHR
- Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- On-call requirements for weekends and evenings
- May float to PreOp if Endo case volume is low
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Required intraprocedural and GI/Gastro experience
- Procedural Tech experience required
- Demonstrated competency in critical GI actions including biopsy, dilatation, banding, snare, and ERCP-related procedures (cannulization, stent placement, sphincterotomy, balloon sweep, basket retrieval, and contrast injection)
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and supplies
- Ability to proactively assist team members in assigned roles
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across pre, intra, and post procedure phases for GI patients
- Perform Level I and II trauma procedures excluding open heart cases
- Facility is a 198-bed, Level III trauma center serving the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah
- Facility has received accreditation for PCI, Mammography, and Laboratory services and has been recognized among the Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the U.S.

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
