Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown/Immediate Care Unit position requiring telemetry experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Stepdown/Immediate Care Unit of a hospital environment
• Care for Progressive Care/Telemetry level patients with varying acuity
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 during emergencies
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7p-7a, weekdays with some weekends required
• Blocked schedules considered for weekend blocks only (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
• Uses Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license may be accepted for consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1 year of MS/Telemetry experience and 2 years of Stepdown experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response including use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration responsibilities
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Responsibilities may include respiratory care such as oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Limit holiday RTO requests to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
• Candidates must have a permanent address more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the same rate
