Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring PICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Float pool position covering various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, peds medsurg, peds PACU, peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother baby
• Teaching hospital setting
• Rotating shifts available in Day (4x12, 7:00-19:00) or Night (4x12, 19:00-7:00)
• 36 or 48 hour schedules on a rotating basis
• 13-week assignment length
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Uses Epic EMR
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed per facility float policy

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Must be comfortable with NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED patient populations
• Previous NICU/PICU float pool experience considered in lieu of standard travel experience requirement
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
• Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
• Peds PACU experience highly preferred
• BSN preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Nursys verification required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
• Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation, recorded in Workday
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no RTO approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• No radius rule applies to this position
• Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external traveler employment requires 1-year separation and leadership approval before reapplying
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have previous NICU/PICU float pool experience
