Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of PICU experience and prior float pool experience.

Details

• Float pool position covering PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
• Teaching hospital setting with Level III NICU and Pediatric CVICU
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:00) or Night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:00) available with rotating schedule
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA RN license or compact license (pending license accepted)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (pending acceptable)
• Preferred certifications: APHON, CPHON, OCN
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
• Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient populations
• Prior float pool experience in NICU/PICU required for travel candidates
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
• BSN preferred
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
• Must complete specialty-specific orientation modules
• Maximum 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
• No RTO can be approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to submission
• Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience
