Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience with charge, circulating, and transition skills.
Details
- and Delivery unit within a hospital setting with 200-300 births per month
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- RN will rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulating, and transition duties
- No post-partum unit rotation required
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Some holiday coverage expected
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and NRP
- AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Must be able to circulate for C-sections and transition newborns
- Experience with high-risk antepartum and delivery required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal) and IUPC placement
- Experience assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
- Pending license accepted for consideration but must be active before start date
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care across triage, antepartum, labor, circulating, and transition phases
- Administer medications including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, and terbutaline
- Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
- Support high-risk delivery, hemorrhage/shock management, and forceps/vacuum extraction procedures
- Provide antepartum care including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
- Deliver newborn care including infant identification and cardiac monitoring
- Assist with pain management including epidural and PCA administration
- Onsite drug screen required upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for a positive result
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
- RTO must be submitted with application for consideration
- First-time travelers will be considered as long as they have appropriate experience
