Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital environment
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- 36 hr/week guaranteed with option to pick up additional PRN hours
- Every other weekend requirement
- Floating required to like medical-surgical departments as needed, with travelers given float priority
- No on-call requirements
- Night shift patient ratios of 1:5-6, with no LPNs on nights
- Treats patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, GI bleed, DKA, altered mental status, and sepsis
- Assignment length up to 26 weeks
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience
- MS/Tele experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Proof of flu vaccination required with consideration, or exemption submitted within 48 hours of signing
- Supervisor-level references required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No holiday RTO requests accepted; specific dates may be discussed with the manager based on unit availability
- RTO limited to no more than 10 days
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
- Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
- Lab work must be scheduled with results expected within 48-72 hours of signing
- Skills utilized may include IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC), GI care (colostomy, feeding tubes), renal care (CBI, hemodialysis), neuro/psych care (CVA, TBI, substance withdrawal), and medication management (heparin, insulin, PCA)
- Additional exposure to plastics and orthopedic patient care, including surgical drains and total joint replacement
