Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of recent MS/Tele hospital experience and an active Oklahoma or Compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on the MS/Tele unit
- Level 3 Trauma Center with 171 staffed beds
- Patient ratios of 1:5 with potential for 1:6-7
- Common diagnoses include altered mental status, CHF, stroke, ortho, surgical patients, DKA, and infections
- Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours (6:30 AM-7:00 PM)
- Required to work 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Scrub color varies by unit
Requirements
- Active Oklahoma or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele experience in a hospital setting required within the past year
- PCU experience will not be accepted in lieu of MS/Tele experience
- EPIC charting experience required within the past year
- Cardiac care self-rating of 3 or above required
- Basic dysrhythmia training preferred with self-rating of 3 or above
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC line management, chest tube management, oxygen administration, heparin and insulin administration, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
- Candidates must be comfortable caring for patients with mental health diagnoses
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for a diverse med/surg telemetry population including cardiac, neurological, and post-surgical patients
- Participate in rapid response and code team activation as needed
- Manage cardiac drips without titration responsibilities
- Facility maintains a zero-fault attendance policy where missed shifts count as unexcused regardless of reason, with warnings issued after 2 missed shifts and possible cancellation after 3 or more
- Maximum of 5 RTO days allowed during the 13-week assignment with no holiday time off approved
- No time off requests accepted before, on, or after major holidays
- No additional RTO can be requested after submittal or while on contract
- No block or special scheduling requests accommodated
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers with 4+ years of MS/Tele experience will be considered
- Compliance training must be completed within 48-72 hours of signing
