Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with Open Heart experience (CABG, Valve post op, Impella, IABP, CRRT) for a night shift assignment requiring an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• 16-bed Surgical ICU within a 310-bed hospital
• Designated Neuro Unit for ischemic strokes receiving TPA
• Targeted patient ratios of 1:2 for Critical Care and 1:3 for Intermediate level patients
• Cares for COVID positive, prone, and post-Cardiac Arrest hypothermia patients
• Utilizes CRRT and 24-hour EEG monitoring
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• 13 or 18 week winter contract options available
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Traveler will be first to float at facility discretion, potentially into high-risk respiratory/COVID units or other specialty clusters
• May float to Main, South (Centerville), or North (Englewood) campuses if assigned to MVH
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact license required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing or BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS and ACLS certification through AHA required
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass an online EKG/dysrhythmia tele competency assessment within 72 hours of signing contract
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Experience with vents, NIH stroke scale, IV starts, ICP monitoring, and conscious sedation required
• Open Heart experience required including CABG, Valve post op, Impella, IABP, and CRRT
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• No candidates with past license disciplinary action accepted
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of signing

• Level III Trauma Center providing Family Centered Care with unrestricted visiting hours
• Strong emphasis on customer service
• Facility may cancel up to 2 shifts due to low census per 13-week contract
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no additions after offer
• References are not required
• Local radius is 50 miles; local candidates are not accepted
• Previous PERM/PRN staff or agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying and require facility rehire approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
