Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cath Lab/EP RN with a CA license required and prior Cath Lab and IR experience for a mixed procedural lab position.
Details
- Work in a mixed Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR) unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Unit consists of 3 procedure suites averaging 8-10 cases per day
- Patient procedures include L & R heart cath (interventional and diagnostic), EP studies, pacer and defibrillator implants, PICC line placement, central lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, pleurovacs, and stroke intervention
- Utilizes Cerner EMR
- Day shift schedule, 10-hour shifts from 630a-5p with a 36-hour guaranteed workweek
- Cath/IR lab operates with a 3-person team requiring the RN to provide procedural sedation and hemodynamic monitoring
- RN will float between the main procedure room and a separate control room (with window visibility) for hemodynamic monitoring
- No floating to other units required
- Call required 1-2 evenings per week starting after day shift ends (around 5pm)
- Weekend call required 1-2 times per month for a 24-hour period (630a-630a)
- 30-minute call response time required
- Every other weekend (EOW) rotation
- Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS
- COVID vaccine required
- Cath Lab and IR experience required to succeed in this mixed lab setting
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Must be comfortable floating between procedure room and control room for hemodynamic monitoring
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include procedure setup, circulating during procedures, administering sedation, and continuous patient monitoring throughout procedures
- Works under the direction of the Cath Lab Manager and Charge Nurse
- Cath Lab and IR Techs are part of the support team
- Unit-specific orientation is up to 2 weeks with another RN; new hires are not added to the call rotation until the 3rd week
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- 24-hour Cardiologist call coverage is in place to support the unit
- First-time travelers may be considered given preference for prior travel experience
