Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and float flexibility across multiple critical care units.

Details

  • Critical Care Float Pool position within a teaching hospital setting
  • Float coverage across multiple ICUs including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, MICU, and NCCU
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity based on staffing and patient needs

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Ohio state or compact) required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Required skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management experience
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across a variety of ICU settings including cardiovascular, neuro, surgical, and medical intensive care units
  • Responsibilities may include management of ventilated patients, arterial and central line care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and monitoring of ICP and EVD/lumbar drains depending on unit assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment consideration after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • All contracts must extend through January 2, 2027
