Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring TX or compact license, 2+ years of L&D experience, and prior charge experience.
Details
- Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with 200-300 births per month
- Rotates through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition duties (no post-partum)
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
- Cerner charting experience preferred
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission but must be active before start)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, including ability to circulate and transition newborns
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and NRP
- Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, drawing venous blood, and use of infusion pumps
- Skilled in high-risk antepartum care, magnesium sulfate therapy, and pitocin administration
- Experience assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and forceps/vacuum extraction
- Proficient in fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Experience recognizing and treating abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include neonatal care in the delivery room, APGAR scoring, infant ID/security banding, and use of radiant warmers
- Provides pain management support including epidural and general anesthesia assistance and PCA use
- Handles postpartum complications such as hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and care following cesarean or multiple births
- Assists with sterile speculum exams, non-stress tests, and obstetrical triage
- Candidates must submit RTO requests with their application and should expect to work some holidays
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
- Facility conducts its own on-site drug screening including marijuana, and any positive result results in automatic cancellation
- First-time travelers will be considered as long as they meet the required experience qualifications
