Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a New Mexico or compact RN license and prior telemetry experience.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital, and Children's Hospital
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- Patient ratios of 1:5, with possible 1:6, in a hospital operating at over 100% capacity
- 36 or 48 hour contracts available
- Weekend requirement of 2 shifts per 4-week schedule, which may vary by unit
- Floating required to other Med/Surg Tele, PCU, and lower acuity settings within skillset, including the ED with 1:5 ratios
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, pending license accepted
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- RQI certifications not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including starting and maintaining IVs
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Must be willing to work relief charge as needed for contracts signed on or after 7/2/2026
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry nursing care with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management for Med/Surg patients
- Must work 2 of the 3 designated holiday bundles: Thanksgiving/day after, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- COVID vaccine is optional; facility requires reporting of vaccination status or declination
- RTO requests exceeding 10 days require approval
- Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted for this position
- Black scrubs required, not provided
- No parking fee at this facility
- 6-month system break required after completing 4 consecutive assignments or reaching the one-year mark, whichever comes first
- 12-month separation required for former staff members returning as travelers
