Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week day-shift contract requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• facfacility setting on a Medical Surgical unit
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:45 to 19:15
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, no pending licenses accepted
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy required
• Experience with peripheral line care/management required
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
• Experience with nasal cannula oxygen administration required
• Experience with non-invasive airway management and oral suctioning required
• Experience managing heparin and insulin medications required
• Experience using Rapid Response/Code teams required
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE required
• Wound care and wound vac experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit, including IV therapy, wound care, and respiratory support
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, with no more than 3 days off and no time off requested during the first or last week of the contract
• Former employees of University of Chicago Medicine, PRN, or Ingalls permanent staff must have been separated for at least 7 months before returning as a traveler
• Block scheduling is not accommodated
