Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology position requiring EPIC charting experience and NJ or Compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital setting
  • Care for adult medical oncology patients (GI, GU, Breast, Head and Neck, Neuro, Thoracic, Lymphoma, Leukemia), GYN oncology, and classic hematology patients (Sickle cell, anemia, factor 8, ITP)
  • Perform clinic-based bone marrow biopsies
  • Perform GYN Oncology procedures including Pap smears, biopsies, colposcopies, and pelvic exams
  • Day shift schedule, 5x7.5 hours, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Floating required within skillset with ratios assigned based on patient acuity and census
  • EPIC charting system experience required

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Experience accessing and managing central lines and ports, including central line blood draws
  • Experience administering Neupogen and hormonal therapy
  • Colostomy care experience required
  • Two current professional references required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive oncology nursing care including IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, and central/PICC line care
  • Manage oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
  • Deliver psychosocial care including patient/family education, symptom management, and advanced directive support
  • Administer medications including antiemetics, hormonal therapy, and Neupogen
  • Care for patients with various cancer types including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and other malignancies
  • Perform additional clinical skills such as neutropenic precautions, phlebotomy, wound care, and pain management including IV push narcotics
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Must be gone from the health system for a minimum of 1 year before returning as a travel clinician if previously employed there (full-time or PRN)
  • Must be available to work 2 of 3 designated holidays
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this position
