Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and prior travel experience.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a short-term acute care hospital with 97 staffed beds
• Patient ratios of 1:6 to 1:7
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (6:45p-7:15a), with consideration for 3x12s
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities
• Uses Epic EMR
• Royal Blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact license required in hand prior to start
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted for this position
• Telemetry experience preferred, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Colostomy/ileostomy management and pre/post hemodialysis management experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring and emergency response, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, respiratory care including oxygen administration and nasal cannula use, and isolation precautions/PPE compliance
• Must complete all assigned compliance modules prior to start date, with access typically provided the Wednesday before start and completion required by the Thursday before start
• Attendance at staff meetings is required
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius, as the facility prioritizes non-local candidates; local candidates will be considered at a reduced rate
• Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application, as approval is based on facility needs
• Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Block scheduling requests may be submitted for approval but are not guaranteed
• During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
