Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a CA RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
  • Care for a general adult/pediatric ED patient population
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • TNCC and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Experience managing IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilated patients
  • Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health patients
  • Experience with pediatric emergency conditions including asthma, seizures, and abdominal pain
  • Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience applying splints and managing orthopedic trauma
  • Neuro-trauma and traumatic brain injury experience preferred
  • Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions
  • Perform clinical procedures such as IV insertion, Foley catheterization, and wound dressing
  • Accurately document patient assessments and educate patients and families
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Act as a patient advocate and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain professional appearance and demonstrate initiative in daily responsibilities
  • Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at the local rate
  • Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday allowed for time-off requests
  • Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • First-time travelers may be considered given required experience is met
