Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a MedSurg/Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the 4T Surgical Nursing unit of a 337-bed hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
  • 34-bed unit with an average census of 32 patients
  • Patient population includes MedSurg diagnoses such as DKA, Sepsis, Wounds, CHF, AKI, PNA, Diabetes, Anemia, and Sickle Cell Crisis, as well as Surgical cases including Pancreatitis, Spinal Fusions, and Ortho total joints (Knees/Hips)
  • RN patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights, with potential surge staffing up to 1:7-8
  • CNA patient ratios are 1:12 on both days and nights
  • 12-hour Day Shift schedule (0700-1900), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required within Region 2, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital), as needed within scope of practice
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and Rover communication devices
  • No remote tele monitoring; unit staff are responsible for reading and posting telemetry every shift

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
  • General medical/surgical skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously employed in a permanent position
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to meet radius requirements

  • Provide MedSurg/Tele nursing care within a supportive unit staffed with CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, dedicated pharmacist, case managers, Clinical Nurse Specialist, respiratory therapy, nurse educator, and hospitalist coverage
  • Unit culture is described as welcoming with helpful teammates
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
  • Free parking available
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • If floating mid-shift to another facility, travel time between locations is compensated
