Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level 2 trauma center, requiring 1+ year of experience and GA RRT licensure.
Details
- Level 2 trauma center with interventional stroke certification and a Level 3 NICU serving as the regional transport resource
- Patient population ranges from infants to geriatrics, primarily adult with some pediatric intubated patients
- Manages non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests, arterial line placement, oxygen management, and patient education
- Performs arterial blood gases, capillary blood gases, and blood draws from lines
- Uses Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, and Viasys Avea systems
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:30-7:00)
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and to sister campus as needed
- No call requirements
- Slate gray scrub color required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience required, primarily adult population with pediatric intubated patient exposure
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Trauma experience required
- Level II trauma experience preferred
- Epic charting system experience preferred
- Pulmonary function testing (spirometry) experience preferred
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, RRT
- GA RRT license required if applicable
- NRP certification preferred
- Skills required include ventilator management (BiPAP, CPAP, weaning, troubleshooting alarms), airway management (extubation, suctioning, airway placement), tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with medication delivery systems including nebulizers, MDIs, and various respiratory medications
- First-time travelers are accepted
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill patients ranging from neonates to geriatric adults
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary care team in a high-acuity trauma and stroke center environment
- Support the NICU as a regional transport resource facility
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, must be finalized at time of submission
- No RTO requests permitted during orientation week
- Holiday coverage required: work 1-2 major holidays if they occur during assignment; work 2 of 3 if three major holidays occur during assignment period
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Former Piedmont perm, per diem, or FCSS staff must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Returning travelers who were previously cancelled or given a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
