Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float position requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and prior travel assignment history.
Details
- Float pool position covering acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
- Patient population includes Ortho/Neuro-Stroke and Cardiac Tele cases
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
- May split 12-hour shift between two different units, requiring strong time management skills
- Required to work every other weekend with flexibility requested
- No on-call requirements
- Required to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- High volume of peripheral nerve catheter management on ortho floors
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact license required; proof of pending license accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, specifically in MS/Tele or stepdown at a Level I or Level II trauma facility
- Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
- Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Must be proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Strong Ortho/Neuro skills required
- Experience with insulin drip titration required
- Skills in CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery, and cardiac monitoring required
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
Additional Information
- Manager prefers to avoid scheduling travel pairs together
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I Trauma status
- Holiday coverage requires working 2 holidays (eve/day) with only 1 of 3 major holidays off; no Christmas RTO
- RTO cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of the assignment and should be kept to a minimum
- Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate with no radius restriction
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Scrub color can be any solid color; light blue scrubs also provided on unit
