Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least two years of high-risk L&D experience and the ability to circulate C-sections in the OR.

Details

  • Level III NICU acute care hospital setting, Trauma Level 3, on a 22-bed L&D unit with 2 OR suites, 7 triage beds, and 34 postpartum beds
  • Unit averages 8-12 births per day, approximately 250 per month, and 2900 per year
  • Patient population includes labor, C-section, pre-eclampsia, IDM, and various antepartum complications
  • RNs are required to titrate drips such as oxytocin and magnesium sulfate
  • RNs are required to read their own fetal monitor strips using the GE Corometrics EFM system
  • Surgical techs are present on the unit but no dedicated tele/monitor techs
  • Anesthesia is in-house 24/7; APPs are in-house 24/7 but neonatologist is not
  • EPIC EMR used for charting
  • Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week guaranteed
  • Every other weekend and holiday requirements apply
  • Call requirement of 18 hours per 6 weeks, scheduled in 6-hour increments
  • Required to float to Postpartum as needed, with possible floating within Zone 1 (PEN, SFH, SFI, SMC, STM) during extreme need
  • Self-scheduling process, though travelers are expected to fill in where needed

Requirements

  • Active CO state or Compact (NLC) RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required (AHA)
  • Minimum of 2 years of high-risk L&D experience required
  • Must be able to circulate C-sections in the OR
  • Experience with drip titration (oxytocin, magnesium sulfate) required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across L&D, Postpartum, and Mother-Baby units, including circulating C-sections in the OR
  • Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
  • Unit/department specific orientation is one shift in addition to general orientation
  • Hospital-provided scrubs required
  • Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Candidates must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
