Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a night shift position requiring active Iowa or compact RN licensure and 24 months of Med/Surg-Tele experience.

Details

• 16-bed hospital unit with a 5:1 patient ratio
• Patient population includes telemetry and post-op surgical patients (ortho and general surgery)
• Responsible for reading and measuring telemetry strips
• Utilizes Epic EMR for charting
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• No on-call requirements
• Required to work every 3rd weekend, including holiday rotation if scheduled

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg and/or Med/Surg-Tele experience in a hospital or medical center setting required
• Ortho and general surgery care experience required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Drip management experience required: Insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred
• Valid driver's license or proof of permanent residency required for consideration
• First-time travelers accepted with minimum 24 months of current nursing experience

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to telemetry and post-op surgical patients, including ortho and general surgery cases
• Monitor, read, and measure telemetry strips as part of daily responsibilities
• Manage medication drips including Insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
• Holiday coverage required, with travelers expected to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
• Limited time-off requests permitted during peak holiday periods (11/26-11/30 and 12/23-1/2)
• Candidates previously employed at this facility within the past 12 months may not be eligible for consideration
