Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring Epic experience and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Details
- Hospital-based Medical Surgical Oncology unit
- Patient population includes Hematology, Medical Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Gynecologic & Surgical Oncology cases
- 7-bed positive pressure wing dedicated to BMT and acute leukemia patients
- Unit performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
- Equipment used includes Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Floating required
- No on-call requirement
Requirements
- Active RN license, Compact or LA license required in hand upon submittal
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (ONS preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs required
- Oncology-related skills such as chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
- Experience with blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and port access preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry preferred
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols required
- Experience in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Telemetry settings preferred
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required with profile
Additional Information
- Provide bedside nursing care to complex oncology and hematology patients including BMT and acute leukemia cases
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team by unit management during declared emergency events, requiring the traveler to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team
- Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required to obtain clearance to start, though not required at time of consideration
- Orientation held five days a week
- Must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
- RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full year separation from the facility before returning as a traveler
