Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2 years of specialty experience, Trauma Level I and teaching hospital background, and a Missouri or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital setting
  • Unit has an average daily census of 16 with 21 beds
  • Care for post cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients, including post heart and liver transplant cases
  • Provide ECMO support (VV and VA), Impella, IABP, and LVAD initial insertion management
  • Includes a 6-bed CVPACU recovering vascular and structural procedures such as TAVR, Mitral Clip, and Watchman, with recovery occurring Monday through Friday day shift
  • Recover TEE/cardioversion patients and manage central line placements for temporary line needs
  • Perform CRRT and other renal support therapies
  • Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours (18:45-07:15) with option for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per 6-week schedule, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Missouri or compact) required, with both Kansas and Missouri or compact license in hand due to potential floating needs
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (TNCC preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU specialty experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience required
  • Patient ratio experience of 1:2
  • Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, CVP monitoring, epicardial pacing wire care, pre/post cardiac cath care, TAVR and valve repair/replacement care, Swan Ganz monitoring, and sheath removal
  • Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction, IV insulin protocols, and renal complications including AKI and chronic/acute renal failure
  • Skilled in central line, PICC line, arterial line, and port management, as well as blood product administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation required
  • Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, administering emergency medications, and monitoring procedural sedation
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive critical care to complex cardiovascular and post-surgical patients
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, finalized at time of submission with no changes after offer
  • Radius rule: candidates residing within 50 miles are considered local and are not accepted for this position
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous BJC or Saint Luke's employees must complete an 18-month tenure with a required 3-month break in service before returning as a traveler
  • Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Facility may extend an offer without an interview, though interviews can be accommodated upon request
