Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an ER Holding position on night shift, requiring NIHSS certification and a NM or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Rapid Admit Unit/ER Holding unit providing MS level of care
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours), 18:30-7:00
• Preferred 48-hour weekly schedule, Monday-Thursday
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• May float up to a 1:6 ratio
• Floating to like units within scope required based on facility needs, with brief orientation provided

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required (pending compact accepted if obtained prior to start)
• Current certifications: BLS, NIHSS, CPI required; ACLS preferred
• 2 years of experience preferred, minimum 1+ years considered
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation, CVA care, substance withdrawal management, and feeding tube care
• Experience with heparin and insulin administration
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care in a med/surg and MS/Tele environment with cardiac monitoring and emergency response capabilities
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 4 days of RTO will be auto-approved, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
