Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an ER Holding position on night shift, requiring NIHSS certification and a NM or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Rapid Admit Unit/ER Holding unit providing MS level of care
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours), 18:30-7:00
- Preferred 48-hour weekly schedule, Monday-Thursday
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- May float up to a 1:6 ratio
- Floating to like units within scope required based on facility needs, with brief orientation provided
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required (pending compact accepted if obtained prior to start)
- Current certifications: BLS, NIHSS, CPI required; ACLS preferred
- 2 years of experience preferred, minimum 1+ years considered
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with continuous bladder irrigation, CVA care, substance withdrawal management, and feeding tube care
- Experience with heparin and insulin administration
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care in a med/surg and MS/Tele environment with cardiac monitoring and emergency response capabilities
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 4 days of RTO will be auto-approved, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
