Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring stroke/post cardiac cath care experience and night shift availability.

Details

• Work in the Telemetry unit of a short-term acute care hospital with 110 staffed beds
• Adult and geriatric patient population including total joint replacement, neuro spine, general surgery, wounds, diabetic, medical COVID, and oral surgery cases
• Care for stroke/CVA patients and post cardiac catheterization patients
• Average daily census of 16 with a patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
• Required to work every other weekend
• Required to float between two hospital locations as needed, within the assigned service line
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Telemetry, step-down, or stroke care experience required
• Post cardiac catheterization patient care experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Perform respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Manage central, peripheral, and PICC lines along with IV therapy and blood product administration
• Provide wound care and wound vac management
• Manage IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking available onsite
• Some initial orientation shifts may occur outside typical contract hours
• Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing or will need to be shaved
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they meet the unit's experience requirements
• Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
