Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pre-Op position requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- ulatory Procedure Area Pre-Op unit supporting outpatient infusions and procedures at a Magnet, teaching, Level I trauma hospital
- Patient population includes pre-operative morning admissions with infusion, anemia, Alzheimer's, rheumatoid arthritis, GI, hem/onc, kidney disease, diabetes, pulmonary, spine, and cardiology (heart cath) cases
- Supports anesthesia-assisted procedures including bronchoscopy and bone marrow biopsy, as well as endoscopy and radiology pre/post procedure care
- Patient ratio of 3:1
- Day shift schedule with variable 12-hour shifts ranging from 0630-1900 to 0830-2100
- Scheduled up to every Saturday plus two additional variable weekdays
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- Occasional pediatric patients, though rare
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact/MSL license required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required, including at least 2 assignments beyond initial hospital
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience with blood transfusion, starting IVs, and central line management required
- Phase 2 recovery and post cardiac cath care experience preferred
- Telemetry interpretation and management experience preferred
- TR band and sheath site management experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
- Perform pre-operative assessments, patient education, and medication reconciliation
- Provide pre/post care for cath lab, endoscopy, and interventional radiology procedures
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation, with training available for those without prior sedation experience
- Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access, and central line care
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and recognize/manage dysrhythmias
- Provide Phase II recovery care including vital sign monitoring and recovery from sedation
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- Scrub attire may be any solid color; light blue scrubs also provided on unit
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
- Minimal RTO accommodated, with no time off permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Previous UW/Harborview staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
