Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a PACU position requiring 2+ years of PACU experience and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
Details
- Work in the Phase I PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) of an acute care, Level 1 Trauma Center
- 18-bay and 14-bay Phase I PACU units across two floors sharing the same staff
- Care for surgical patients across all specialties, from pediatrics (average 5-15 kids per day) to geriatrics
- Post-procedure care for ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and IR patients
- High acuity patient population
- Nurse to patient ratio follows ASPAN Standards of 1:1 or 2:1
- Uses Epic EMR, AcuDose medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, ventilators, and BiPap equipment
- Variable day shifts of 8s and/or 12s, majority scheduled 0700-2300
- Occasional nights and up to 2 weeknights per month
- Varied weekend rotation with up to every 4th weekend required
- Rotating backup call required with staff
- May float between campuses for Phase I PACU
- 40 hours per week guaranteed
Requirements
- Active RN license (ND or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (all AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Acute/hospital experience required; outpatient surgery center experience will not be considered
- Large hospital (250+ beds) experience required
- Ability to care for pediatric patients
- Ability to manage high acuity patients
- Critical care experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide post-anesthesia care to surgical patients across all specialties and age groups
- Never work alone in this PACU-only unit
- Receive basic hospital/unit orientation with a Buddy RN on the unit
- Hospital-provided scrubs required
- Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Local travel rate applies for those living 60 to 80 miles from the facility
- Interview will be conducted directly by the unit manager prior to any offer
