Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience with charge nurse background and rotation through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition duties.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital with 200-300 births per month
• RN will rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition (no post-partum)
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Assignment length of 16 weeks with a minimum of 13 weeks required
• Some holiday coverage expected
• Cerner charting experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required; pending license accepted with submission but must be active before start
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Must be able to circulate and transition babies as well as manage labor
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, venous blood draws, and IV/infusion pump management
• Experience with high-risk antepartum, vaginal and C-section deliveries, EFM, and fetal monitoring preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and newborn care in the delivery room
• Perform antepartum care and procedures including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
• Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
• Utilize fetal monitoring equipment including external and internal fetal monitors and IUPC placement
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• An on-site drug screen is required upon arrival, including testing for marijuana; a positive result will result in automatic cancellation
• RTO must be submitted with application
• First-time travelers will be considered as long as they have the appropriate experience
