Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience with charge nurse background and rotation through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition duties.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital with 200-300 births per month
- RN will rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition (no post-partum)
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Assignment length of 16 weeks with a minimum of 13 weeks required
- Some holiday coverage expected
- Cerner charting experience preferred
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required; pending license accepted with submission but must be active before start
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP
- Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Must be able to circulate and transition babies as well as manage labor
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, venous blood draws, and IV/infusion pump management
- Experience with high-risk antepartum, vaginal and C-section deliveries, EFM, and fetal monitoring preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and newborn care in the delivery room
- Perform antepartum care and procedures including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
- Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
- Utilize fetal monitoring equipment including external and internal fetal monitors and IUPC placement
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- An on-site drug screen is required upon arrival, including testing for marijuana; a positive result will result in automatic cancellation
- RTO must be submitted with application
- First-time travelers will be considered as long as they have the appropriate experience
