Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVOR PACU (HVI Pre/Post) position at a Level 1 trauma hospital, requiring 1 year of PACU experience and a WV or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care setting within a Level 1 trauma hospital's HVI Pre/Post unit
- 21-bed unit covering pre-op, Phase 1, and Phase 2 recovery, including moderate sedation recovery
- Nurse:Patient ratios are 1:3 in pre-op, 1:2 in Phase 1, and 1:3 in Phase 2
- Patient population includes both outpatients and inpatients recovering from anesthesia and sedation
- Common cases include cardiac catheterizations, EP procedures, structural heart interventions, vascular surgeries, thoracic procedures, and CT surgery recoveries (excluding open sternotomy patients)
- ICU patients occasionally recover in this unit
- RNs are required to read cardiac strips
- Perioperative Care Assistants (PCAs) support the unit with 3-5 staff per day
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, including one mandatory 0800-2030 shift, selected from 0500-1730, 0600-1830, 0700-1930, or 0800-2030 options
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Call required for weekends, holidays, and as needed on a rotating basis with a one-hour response time
- Does not float to other units
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
- Cardiac experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide post-anesthesia and sedation recovery care across pre-op, Phase 1, and Phase 2 phases for a variety of cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and CT surgery patients
- Approximately 1 week of unit-specific orientation provided, including a survival guide
- Scrubs provided in ceil blue color
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- Candidates must not have worked at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years to be eligible
- Cumulative traveler assignments within WVU Medicine are capped at 1 year, after which a 2-year break is required
