Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring strong multi-specialty surgical experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience for first-time travelers.
Details
- Work in the Surgery unit of a Level II Trauma Center hospital with a Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center
- 15-bed OR department, including 2 CVOR beds
- General/Trauma specialty role that also backs up Ortho, Neuro, and ENT service lines
- Minimal pediatric patient population, typically Ortho cases
- Patient ratio of 1:1
- Circulating RN role covering Trauma, Neuro, General, Vascular, ENT, Ortho spine, total joint Ortho, Gyn, Endovascular, Urology, Robotics (General and Neuro), Plastics, Breast, and Eye cases
- Robotics experience with Mazor or DaVinci XI preferred
- Ortho RN candidates must also be proficient with vascular cases as backup for the vascular team
- EMR: Cerner
- Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
- 10-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week, starting at 6:30 AM
- No floating required
- On-call rotation includes one weekday and one weekend per month (Friday 3p-7a, Saturday 24 hours, Sunday 24 hours) with a 30-minute response time
Requirements
- Active RN license (AL or Compact) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Strong experience required across Trauma (no burns), Neuro, General, Vascular, ENT, Ortho spine, Ortho (total joint), Gyn, Endovascular, Urology, Robotics, Plastics, Breast, and Eye surgical cases
- Circulating RN experience specifically required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required for first-time travelers
- Travelers with only 1 year of experience will not be considered
Additional Information
- Support on the unit includes an ORA, desk assistant, charge nurse, and service line team leaders
- Orientation consists of 2 weeks on day shift, with buddy call expected during orientation
- Holiday coverage required per contract terms
- Time off requests must be approved through the manager
- Scrub color is green and will be provided
- Parking available in a parking deck
- First-time travelers will be considered with at least 2 years of experience
- Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Former staff must wait 6 months after separation before returning as a traveler
