Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 5 years of experience and current CA RN licensure in a rural LDRP hospital setting.
Details
- Work in the Family Birth Center of a rural LDRP hospital
- Provide comprehensive care across labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
- Unit handles fewer than 100 facility births per month
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:00
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Familiarity with any charting system preferred
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- AWHONN Intermediate certification required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
- Minimum 5 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience managing labor and delivery including high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and forceps/vacuum extraction
- Experience with hemorrhage/shock management and C-section recovery
- Proficient in sterile vaginal exams and antepartum care procedures including NST and EFM
- Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, multiple births, and cesarean section recovery
- Skilled in newborn care including newborn assessment, thermoregulation, and metabolic screening
- Experience with fetal monitoring including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of external and internal fetal monitoring
- Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
Additional Information
- Deliver hands-on care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn units in a supportive, team-oriented environment
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and cord sample collection
- Provide patient education including breastfeeding support, car seat education, and discharge teaching for new parents
- Support pain management including epidural anesthesia and IV PCA use
- Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols as part of standard care
- Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
- Accepts local candidates within a 50-mile radius at the local rate
- First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
- Returning staff or travelers must have a separation period of at least 1 year before returning
