Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring transplant recovery experience and post-cardiac surgery skills.

Details

  • Work in a high acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at a hospital
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Care for post-op surgical recovery patients including general SICU cases
  • Transplant recovery patient population including liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas transplants
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
  • Float requirement to other ICUs and Step-Down Units (SDUs)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • No on-call requirements
  • No block scheduling requests accommodated

Requirements

  • Active RN license, Compact or Louisiana (LA) state license required in hand upon submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required
  • Required experience in transplant recovery including liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas
  • Required experience with post cardiac surgery care directly from the OR
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) required
  • Preferred experience with pulmonary artery (PA) catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
  • Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips and continuous IV sedation
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required with candidate profile

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to high acuity surgical and transplant ICU patients
  • Care includes management of post cardiac surgery patients such as CABG, valve replacement/repair, and aortic dissection
  • Orientation held five days a week
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start contract (Charge RNs not accepted)
  • Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be considered
  • RTO must be documented on profile and discussed during interview
  • Previous employees who worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers not specified as accepted for this role
