Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring transplant recovery experience and a compact or LA RN license.

Details

  • Work in a high acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at a hospital
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units (SDUs)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • No on-call requirements
  • No block scheduling requests accommodated

Requirements

  • Active RN license, Compact or LA license required in hand at time of submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in SICU specialty required
  • Required transplant experience: liver, heart, lung, kidney, or pancreas transplant recovery
  • Post cardiac surgery (directly from OR) experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD)
  • Preferred experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps (IABP)
  • Skills in arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required within 4 weeks of submission

Additional Information

  • Provide general post-operative care for surgical recovery patients including CABG, valve replacement/repair, and aortic dissection cases
  • Care for transplant recovery patients across liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas services
  • Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
  • Orientation held 5 days a week
  • Rate of Time Off (RTO) must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have been separated from the facility for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during declared emergency events, with an expectation to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team until the event concludes
