Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-acuity Surgical ICU position requiring transplant and post-cardiac surgery experience along with a compact or Louisiana RN license

Details

• Work in a high-acuity Surgical ICU (SICU) and Transplant ICU setting
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with manager able to accommodate 3x12 or 4x12 schedules
• No block scheduling requests accepted
• Float required to other ICUs and step-down units
• Epic EMR experience required
• No on-call requirements
• Provides general post-op surgical recovery care including CABG, valve replacement/repair, and aortic dissection
• Cares for transplant recovery patients including liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas transplants
• Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) preferred

Requirements

• Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required
• Minimum 2 years of transplant experience required (liver, heart, lung, kidney, or pancreas)
• Experience with post-cardiac surgery care directly from the OR required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Preferred experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (measured from driver's license address)
• Must be separated from Ochsner Health for at least 1 full year if previously employed as permanent staff or in-house agency contractor

Additional Information

• Deliver comprehensive post-operative care to surgical and transplant ICU patients
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended on-site presence during declared emergency events
• Orientation held 5 days per week
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescindment
• Two manager or supervisor references required prior to starting the contract (charge RN references not accepted)
