Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Clinic RN for a practice nurse role requiring 2+ years of oncology experience and ONS certification, with no infusion duties.
Details
- Outpatient oncology clinic setting within a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center
- Practice nurse role with no infusion administration at this clinic
- Patient population includes oncology patients before, during, and after treatments, as well as pre-op, post-op, and follow-up appointments
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- May float between specialties within scope to meet facility needs
- No weekend requirements
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start date (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required
- ONS/ONCC (Oncology Nursing Society) certification required
- Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
- Ambulatory and practice nurse experience required
- Phone triage experience required
- Trauma Level I center experience required for consideration
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include telephone triage, inbasket management, and assisting providers during clinic visits
- Skilled in recognizing and managing chemotherapy side effects, oncologic emergencies, and symptom management
- Experienced in psychosocial care including patient/family education, advanced directives, and hospice care
- Knowledgeable in care and management of central lines, ports, and IV therapy
- Scrub color required: royal blue
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
- Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
- Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- RTO requests up to 7 days can be auto-approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional approval
