Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring an active CA RN license and orthopedic circulator experience with total hip and total knee procedures.

Details

• Work in the Operating Room department of a hospital setting
• Serve as an Orthopedic Circulator with total hip and total knee case experience; spine experience preferred
• Patient ratio of 1:1
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• On-call nights and weekends may rarely be required
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC only)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in orthopedic procedures including arthroscopy, closed and open reduction of fractures, laminectomy/discectomy, and total joint replacement; spinal fusion experience preferred
• Experience with general surgery, thoracic, and urology procedures
• Proficient in emergency management, fire safety, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, wound management, and Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures
• Experience with cell saver equipment and administration of blood and blood products
• Nursys license verification uploaded within the last 2 weeks required
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates

Additional Information

• Perform circulating duties for orthopedic surgical cases, including total hip and total knee procedures
• Assist with a variety of surgical specialties including general surgery, thoracic, orthopedic, and urology cases
• Maintain adherence to safety protocols including fire safety, laser safety, radiation safety, and infection control
• Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and wound management practices
• Complete labs within 3-5 days of contract signing
• All compliance documents due 10 days prior to start
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday approved per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning employees must have a minimum 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers not considered for this position
