Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I trauma center, requiring a minimum of 3 years of general OR and trauma experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Operating Room department in an acute care hospital setting with 23 rooms
- Level I trauma center supporting a wide range of surgical service lines excluding cardiovascular
- Day shift schedule of 4x10-hour shifts from 0845 to 1915
- Required to work 1 weekend per month
- On-call requirement of approximately 1 shift per week
- Occasional floating within skill set to meet facility needs
- Uses Cerner for charting
- Cases include general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, urology, plastics, transplant, and trauma procedures
- Utilizes equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables
Requirements
- Active IL RN license in hand or in process required
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience required
- Level I trauma center experience required
- BLS certification required; CNOR and CST certifications preferred
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Experience required in general surgery, neurology, orthopedic, urology, plastics, and trauma cases
- Experience with bariatric laparoscopic assisted cases required
- Experience with organ donation/transplant cases required
- Knowledge of blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, Universal Protocol (time out) procedure, and urinary bladder catheterization required
- AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI certifications not accepted
- First-time travelers not accepted for this position
Additional Information
- Provide perioperative nursing care across multiple surgical service lines including general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, urology, plastics, and trauma
- Work within a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital
- Scrubs provided for this role
- Floating required to other units within the hospital or nearby affiliate facilities
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the facility manager
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this assignment
