Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of recent critical care experience for a night shift position requiring SC RCP licensure and multiple ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications.
Details
- Community hospital setting within the RRT department
- Provides respiratory care across adult critical care, emergency department, pediatric critical care, and NICU areas
- Patient ratio of 1:8
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45p-7:15a)
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- Holiday rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Must be able to float within scope to all areas of the hospital, including labor and delivery
- No floating to sister facilities required
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience required, including recent critical care experience
- RRT certification required (CRT not accepted)
- South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider (RCP) license required if applicable, must be in hand at time of start
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required, all in hand at time of start
- AHA certifications only
- Epic EMR experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Trauma Level I and/or Level II experience preferred
- Prior travel experience required
- Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include ventilator management, weaning from mechanical ventilation, and troubleshooting high pressure alarms
- Performs airway management including intubation/extubation assistance, tracheostomy care, and oral/nasal suctioning
- Administers respiratory medications and manages nebulizer, MDI, and high flow nasal cannula therapies
- Interprets arterial blood gases (ABGs) and performs basic EKG interpretation
- Assists in high-risk deliveries and provides NICU/pediatric respiratory support
- Scrub color is Caribbean Blue
- Free parking available on-site
- During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application for facility approval
- Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
