Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and an active NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Hospital-based Med/Surg Tele position with home unit assignment made on the first day of orientation
- Home unit may include ADTU, 7North/South Ortho Surgical, 6S Medical Telemetry, 5N Surgical Telemetry, 4N Cardiac Medical Telemetry, 3N Medical Telemetry, or 2N Medical
- Patient population includes CHF, COPD, chest pain workup, stroke, respiratory issues, surgical/ortho patients, ESRD, diabetic ulcers, altered mental status, cardiac arrhythmias, and behavioral health cases depending on unit
- RN to patient ratio is 1:5-6 with critical surge up to 1:7-8; CNA ratio is 1:6-12
- 7North/South Ortho Surgical unit requires additional ortho experience and spinal precautions skillset
- 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- General Med/Tele skillset required including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management)
- Experience with PCA pumps and medication drip management (cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF) required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there
Additional Information
- Facility is located in Charlotte, NC with 207 licensed beds, no trauma designation, and is not a teaching hospital
- Facility is designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Department support includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, IV/VAT team (11a-7p, 11p-7a), resource nurse as staffing allows, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 hospitalist coverage
- Intensivist coverage is available in-house until 11pm Monday-Friday and until 7pm on weekends, with on-call intensivist support afterward
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage requires working 75% of holidays
- RTO of up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays; time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
- Schedule follows a 6-week cycle
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking provided
- Manager conducts a final clinical interview
- First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
- Radius rule requires candidates to live 50 miles outside the facility, and local candidates are not accepted
