Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pediatric CICU role requiring at least 2 years of PICU experience and 1 year of dedicated Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience caring for congenital heart disease patients.
Details
- Pediatric Cardiac ICU/step-down unit using an acuity-adaptive care model within a children's hospital tower
- 27-bed unit with approximately 90 staff members
- Patient ratios of 1:2, with 1:1 and occasionally 1:3 depending on acuity
- Equipment includes Medfusion and Baxter IV pumps, Hillrom beds, hard cribs and cribettes, GE radiant warmers, Somanetics NIRS machines, and Servo U ventilators
- Charting completed in Meditech EMR
- Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Rotating weekends required (day shift works Sat/Sun, night shift works Fri/Sat)
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to PICU, NICU, pediatric med surg, and pediatric oncology
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a staff nurse in Pediatric CICU/CVICU
- 3-4 completed contracts in a dedicated pediatric CICU required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience as a staff nurse required
- Experience caring for congenital heart disease patients, including post-operative management, required
- Experience managing arterial lines, central lines, and transthoracic lines required
- Preferred: 2+ years of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse
- Preferred: at least 1 year of experience caring for neonatal cardiac patients (pre- and post-op)
- Preferred: 2+ years of pediatric cardiac step-down or cardiology floor experience
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide compassionate, team-based critical care to pediatric cardiac ICU and step-down patients
- Perform or assist with procedures including central and arterial line placement, conscious sedation, intubation/extubation, post-op recovery, sternal closures, codes, ECMO cannulation/decannulation, CRRT, and manual peritoneal dialysis
- Ideal candidates are hardworking, meticulous, adaptable, and work well within a team
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
- First-time travelers are not specified as eligible given the extensive experience requirements for this role
