Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a hospital and trauma center, requiring an active WI Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
Details
- Work in a cardiopulmonary/respiratory therapy department at a hospital and trauma center
- 36 hours per week schedule with three 12-hour night shifts from 1800 to 0630
- Every other weekend required
- Rotating holiday schedule
- 13-week assignment length
- Cares for both pediatric and adult patient populations when assigned
Requirements
- Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program with education verification required
- WI Respiratory Care Practitioner license required and must be currently active (license required if applicable)
- RRT certification through The National Board for Respiratory Care
- BLS certification (AHA provider level)
- NRP certification
Additional Information
- Perform routine cardiopulmonary therapies including diagnosis and treatment evaluation
- Conduct emergency rounds, oxygen saturation checks, and titrate oxygen per protocol
- Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and wean invasive and non-invasive ventilation based on clinical assessment
- Perform therapies in compliance with universal precautions and proper body mechanics
- Initiate and evaluate treatment regimens through therapist-driven protocols
- Assess patients clinically before and after medication, procedure, or device administration
- Educate patients and families on therapies, medications, and equipment
- Demonstrate competence in set-up, calibration, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators, noninvasive ventilation devices, therapeutic bronchoscopies, and pulmonary function screens
- Clean equipment using high level disinfection and maintain departmental supplies
- Respond to emergent care situations and assist with resuscitation per AHA guidelines under Code Team Leader direction
- Transport adult patients on mechanical ventilation or in critical condition to intrahospital procedures and testing
- Provide developmentally appropriate care based on patient population's needs
- Participate in community education events related to respiratory care procedures and disease processes
- Engage in self-development activities and continuing education
