Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and prior crani/EVD management.
Details
- Work in the Neuro ICU at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Care for ICU and IMC patient populations
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Some holiday coverage required
- Floating required as needed
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Required hands-on experience managing craniotomy and external ventricular drain (EVD) patients
- Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
- Neurosurgery, Trauma Level I, and teaching hospital experience preferred
- Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting the assignment, with up to two attempts allowed
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, blood product administration, and ventilator management
- Experience with neurological care including EVD, ICP monitoring, CVA/stroke management, and post-neurosurgery care
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, and interpreting dysrhythmias
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU and surgical ICU patients, including those with traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP management, and care of ventilated patients
- Manage hypothermia protocols, arctic sun therapy, and continuous IV sedation or paralytics
- Support patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to required travel experience
