Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Med/Surg-Orthopedics float pool position requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience.
Details
- Inpatient Orthopedics/Medical-Surgical unit within a Level 1 Trauma hospital setting
- Float pool position requiring floating to similar units
- Night shift schedule: 7:00PM - 7:30AM
- 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
- 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
- Rotating holiday coverage required
- Uses Epic EMR for charting
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience required
- ASN required; BSN preferred
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in orthopedic and medical-surgical patient assessment
- Experience with wound care, traction setup, and surgical traction device manipulation
- Experience managing wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, and pouches
- Proficient in medication management, patient education, and care transition planning
Additional Information
- Assess orthopedic and medical-surgical patients each shift and develop individualized plans of care
- Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
- Coordinate patient care with physicians and surgeons
- Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare team members
- Set up orthopedic traction and manipulate surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care needs
- Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
- RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
- Previous contingent workers must complete a 6-month break in service after 1 year before returning to this health system
