Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Med/Surg-Orthopedics float pool position requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience.

Details

• Inpatient Orthopedics/Medical-Surgical unit within a Level 1 Trauma hospital setting
• Float pool position requiring floating to similar units
• Night shift schedule: 7:00PM - 7:30AM
• 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Uses Epic EMR for charting

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required; BSN preferred
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in orthopedic and medical-surgical patient assessment
• Experience with wound care, traction setup, and surgical traction device manipulation
• Experience managing wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, and pouches
• Proficient in medication management, patient education, and care transition planning

Additional Information

• Assess orthopedic and medical-surgical patients each shift and develop individualized plans of care
• Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and surgeons
• Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare team members
• Set up orthopedic traction and manipulate surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care needs
• Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Previous contingent workers must complete a 6-month break in service after 1 year before returning to this health system
