Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 NICU night shift position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.
Details
- Work in a Level 3 NICU within an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital setting
- Unit features 60 total private rooms (40 NICU, 20 Intermediate) with capacity to expand to 65 patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-3 in NICU and 1:3-4 in Intermediate NIC
- Care for patients from 22 weeks gestation and up, including abdominal defects, pre-cardiac repair, PPHN, CDH, and other genetic defects
- Utilizes conventional vents, oscillator ventilators, JET ventilators, CPAP, Nasal IMV, heated high flow, and tracheostomy equipment
- Titrate drips per orders, including Fentanyl, Morphine, and Precedex
- Uses Phillips patient monitors; no telemetry monitoring required
- EPIC EMR used for charting
- 12-hour night shifts on a self-scheduling system with block scheduling allowed
- Night shift weekend requirement is flexible and dependent on facility needs, with weekends running Friday and Saturday nights
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- No current call or standby requirement
- Floating required, with travelers floating first to PICU, PIC, Peds, Nursery, sitter duties, BHM, or adult units
- Charge RN and House Supervisor coverage available 24/7, along with a dedicated transport RN
- Unit is supported by PCTs, a Neonatologist in house 24/7, 2-3 APNs, and Resident/Fellow coverage
- 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided (1 day in NIC, 1 day in NICU)
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Level 3/4 NICU experience preferred
- Micro preemie care experience preferred
- BSN not required for this position
- EPIC EMR experience beneficial
- Must be able to perform drip titration per physician orders
- Negative drug screen required for all panels
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill neonates in a high-acuity NICU environment
- Assist with drip titration and monitoring using advanced respiratory equipment
- No specific scrub color required, but fake nails, nail polish, and jewelry/watches are not permitted
- Local candidates accepted; those residing within 50 miles of the facility qualify for a local rate
- Facility does not require COVID vaccination for consideration
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
